William Hartley
Head of Group Operational Performance

William Hartley is an Australian mining engineer with a diverse background in the operation and management of open cut mines. He is passionate about the development of the resources industry and more importantly, the people that make it successful. Will started his career with BMA in the Bowen Basin and worked his way up to Operations Superintendent through various technical, contract management and continuous improvement roles across BHPs Queensland coal mines, followed by experience across the Maintenance Centre of Excellence and Integrated Operations in the BHP copper operations based in Chile. He holds a Bachelor of Engineering from the University of Queensland with an Extended Major in Mining (Honors) and was awarded the Sir Ollie Patterson Prize for best Mining Thesis in 2010. Will has most recently been employed by BHP as Head of Group Operational Performance where his teams support operations in understanding the key value drivers, performance opportunities and best practices to deliver improved group operational outcomes.
