Michael Williams has 15 years of experience in the environmental and sustainability fields in the Western Australian mining sector. Michael is the Sustainability Superintendent at Bellevue Gold and is responsible for achieving net zero emissions. Bellevue Gold has recently become Australia’s most renewably powered mine, and the world’s first net zero (Scope 1 and Scope 2) emission mine. Bellevue Gold has pioneered the sale of ‘green gold’ to ethical buyers of gold, for its sustainable and traceable supply chain. Michael has worked on the studies, tendering, commissioning and now operations, with some world first achievements – including powering the mine (at a 12 MW load) for over 100 hours on 100% renewable energy.
