Jeremy Hanhiniemi

Director, Technology & Innovation, Engineering, Weir Minerals

Dr Jeremy Hanhiniemi is currently Director, Technology and Innovation, for Weir in the Minerals division. He leads a team bringing new product concepts, flowsheets, and technologies to benefit mining and minerals customers, globally. Jeremy began his career as a chartered Mechanical Engineer. He then completed commercial training through an MBA, while working in various project, technology, innovation, engineering director and leadership roles. Jeremy went on to complete a PhD at the University of Queensland's Julius Kruttschnitt Mineral Research Centre (JKMRC) in techno-economic analysis of comminution and minerals processing circuits. Jeremy continues to pursue advancements in the minerals processing industry within Weir, and as an Adjunct Fellow at the JKMRC. Jeremy has worked within the minerals processing and mining industry for over 15 years, and has experience across a range of commodities, at sites in Australia, the USA, and Asia. His experience and applied research interests include a range of processes in minerals, techno-economic assessment, process modelling, and advancements in a wide range of minerals processing equipment. He is an AusIMM Fellow and Chartered Professional, a member of the Global Comminution Collaborative, and Chartered Professional in Mechanical Engineering with Engineers Australia.
